Maui feb 5-9

We made our way from Evanston to Maui through a very long trip on Sunday the 3rd of febraury. We left Evanston at 7am for a flight from chicago to LAX, where we waited 5 long hours for our next flight to Maui.. LAX was pretty dreadful and food was terrible. The layover went way faster than we expected since we had internet access and had to have lunch... Funnily enough, we lost track of time and, relying on each other's to keep track of boarding time, heard a call at 4.30pm for the last call for our flight... OK>. they boarded early but we really almost missed our flight after a 5 hour WAIT! a little ridiculous!

We were last in the plane.. :)
Made it to the airport in Maui, it was quite warm though slightly rainy. We were exhausted after such a long day especially because of the time difference as well. Finding the Marriott Wailea hotel was not easy, even with the gps and we kept turning in a big loop. The island, even at night with hardly any light was looking beautiful and magical. We finally had to call the hotel and ended up finding it...
We were very happy with the hotel choice, location was great. If we go back to Maui, I think Wailea will be at the top of our list for location. Busy enough but less crowded and less traffic!

The island itself was absolutely magical. We will definitely be back, especially since we should be able to get flights on our way to the US from Europe... :)
We are even hoping for a family vacation there as it seems the PERFECT spot for a Johnson family vacation (there is biking, horse riding, beautiful sights and beaches, snorkeling, boat trips, whale watching, great food , and amazing golf courses everywhere..!)
